FAISALABAD, May 30: Over 1,00 more gastroenteritis patients were brought to various city hospitals on Tuesday. Hospital sources said a majority of the patients, 90 per cent of them children, were brought to the General Hospital, Ghulam Muhammadabad, Allied Hospital and emergency centre set up in the MC High School.
Government officials on Tuesday confirmed that over 18,000 patients had visited the government-run hospitals since the disease outbreak.
Giving details, a district government spokesman said out of the total 18,225 patients received by the city’s public healthcare facilities so far, 13,883 were sent home after initial treatment, while 4,342 were admitted and later discharged after being cured.
Meanwhile, a Wasa spokesman claimed that the replacement of old water-supply pipes in the affected localities of Ghulam Muhammadabad was underway at a fast pace, and so far 5,000 feet of pipes had been changed.
