Girl ‘commits suicide’; two bodies found in city

ISLAMABAD, May 30: A girl died at home in mysterious circumstance while two dead bodies were found from different parts of the city, police said here on Tuesday. In the first incident, Iffat Rafeeq, 25, allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself with a piece of rope tied to the ceiling of her room, at Mohallah Noori Bagh, Bari Imam.

Police quoted the victim’s family as saying that on Monday night Ms Rafeeq had a brawl with her brother Rizwan Rafeeq over some domestic issue and after that she went into the room and hanged herself.

She was being shifted to the Federal Government Services Hospital, however, she died on the way.

A medico-legal officer said that in a suicide cases normally the rope leaves mark on the neck that was inverted ‘v.’ However, the typical suicide mark was not on her neck. There was a chance that she might be hanged after being strangulated with a piece of rope.

Body samples, including heart, brain, spleen, kidney, liver and lungs were sent to the Chemical Examiner Lahore and histopathology to ascertain the actual cause of death, police said.

Sources said that Ms Rafeeq wanted to marry on her will, however, her family opposed it, resulting quarrels between them.

Meanwhile, Shahzad Town police found the naked dead body of a young girl. Some passers-by reported to the police that a decomposed body was being hanged with scarf from a tree at the green area near Faizabad.

Police seized the dead body and sent it to Pims for pending identification and legal process. They said the body seemed to be 10-15 days old. Samples of the body were sent for chemical examination and histopathology to ascertain the cause of death.

Sihala police found the dead body of a 25-year-old man lying in the green area near Kak bridge.

The incident came to light when some passers-by informed police that a body was lying in a pool of blood. The police seized the dead body and shifted it to Pims for legal process and pending identification.

The man was slaughtered with a sharp iron metal. There were also a deep wound in his abdomen which showed that he was also stabbed with a sharp iron metal, police sources said.
