KARACHI: Man kills sister, injures mother

KARACHI, May 30: A young man killed his sister and wounded his mother in Saeedabad on Tuesday. Police said Azam, 37, stabbed his sister Rubina, 34, and wounded his mother Praveen, 55, before fleeing from the house in Sector A-3. The suspect had used a kitchen knife, police said.

According to the family, Azam was suffering from mental illness and he used to regularly quarrel with his family members.

The suspect’s sister, Rubina, mother of three, was on a visit to her mother’s house on Tuesday when she met her fate.

The wounded mother was rushed to the nearby Murshid Hospital from where she was referred to the JPMC.

Police said Rubina died before she could he taken rushed to hospital.

ARRESTED: The police on Tuesday arrested seven gang members of the Rehman Dakait group when they were reportedly attempting to stage a comeback in Lyari.

A large quantity of arms and ammunition were recovered from their possession.

Police said that the Lyari Task Force, on a tip off, led by SP Aslam Khan reached the Dubai Chowk in Lyari ensuing in an encounter.

The police managed to arrest the brother of proclaimed offender Baba Ladla, Rashid alias Ladla, along with six of his associates.

DSP Irfan Bahadur said that following the arrests, the police recovered two rocket launchers, three hand grenades, two kalashnikovs, and two TT pistols.
