KARACHI, May 30: The Sindh government is taking every possible measure for the promotion of call centres as this would help develop the information technology sector providing employment opportunities to thousands of people.
This was stated by the Adviser to the Sindh Chief Minister on Information Technology, Mohammad Noman Saigal, here on Tuesday.
He was speaking as chief guest at the inaugural ceremony of a call centre here set up under the auspices of the Business Information Technology Academy (BITA).
The adviser was of the view that with the setting up of the call centres the economic activities would also get a boost and a lot of employment opportunities would be created.
He was of the view that in the next two years none of the graduates in Sindh would remain jobless.
Saigal pointed out that the government is providing training to 1,000 graduates for the position of call centres agents. The expenses for the training would be borne by the government.
He also announced that the government has decided to acquire a 5,000 seat multi-purpose building for the setting up of the call centre and that at least 17,000 people would get the job opportunities there.
The adviser also pointed out that the call centre was a 50 billion dollars industry globally and it is increasing at a rate of 30 per cent per annum.
He said that owing to excellent and business friendly policies of President Pervez Musharraf and Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz, Pakistan has emerged as the best and a very profitable country for the investment.
Saigal said that the government of Pakistan has started revolutionary steps for the promotion of information technology.
He stated the government of Sindh is also taking measures in this respect. The Adviser said that the media city would be established in the next two years.—APP
