Azhar guides Surrey to crucial victory
LONDON, May 29: Former Pakistan player Azhar Mahmood’s all-round brilliance kept English cricket county Surrey's faint hopes of winning South Conference of Cheltenham & Gloucester Trophy alive as they beat Glamorgan by 68 runs at The Oval on Sunday.
Azhar rescued his side from perilous position of 37 for five, scoring his first one-day hundred for his county, to guide them to defendable total of 200 all out from 45 overs.
Then he took 4-17 as Glamorgan were bundled out for 132 in 31.3 overs.
After making 101 not out from 98 balls with nine fours and four sixes, he nipped out Glamorgan's openers and with Mohammad Akram reduced visitors to 45 for five.—Agencies
