By Aftab Gilani

LAHORE, May 29: Fancied horses flopped in five out of six events during the Lahore Summer Meeting at the Racecourse on Sunday. The only favourite to win was bay filly Top Cat, who beat Zargar by a length in the fourth race.

Princess Afaq finished third a neck behind while favourite Lovely Diana was nosed out to fourth position.

Bay filly Daisy Against All, won the second race defeating Rana Choice by six lengths. Favourite Eye Of Tiger finished a close third.

Yet another long shot Wendy Trace romped home an easy winner in the third event. The five-year-old mare beat second favourite Jewna by a distance.

Polo player buys Naseeb

The invincible Naseeb who won the honours of being the biggest-ever money spinner at the Lahore Racecourse will now be seen in action at the Lahore Polo Club ground.

This son of Sheikh Albadoo, Naseeb, from the bloodline of English sire Green Desert-Danzig, after a distinguished career in racing was put to stud duty last year by his owner Malik Hamid Ali Noon.

He was mated with six mares but all remained infertile.

Later it transpired he is inflicted with infertility because of some abdominal defect during nurstling and is unable of becoming a progenitor.

Malik Noon told Dawn that he was left with no option but to sell the horse to a well-known polo player.

Naseeb has to his credit of having won rupees 1.7 million in stake-money, the highest-ever won by a horse singularly in Lahore.

He won six races in-a-row including the Pakistan Derby 2004 and Eclipse Stakes Of Pakistan and remained unbeaten.
