ISLAMABAD, May 29: A resident of Abbottabad, whose son was allegedly murdered by his cousin and uncle, has sought the help of the president, prime minister, chief justice of Pakistan, governor and chief minister of the NWFP in the arrest of the culprits.

Talking to Dawn, Mohammad Younus said he had lodged a complaint with the Mirpur police in Abbottabad against the accused for killing his 19 years old son Usman Younus.

He said the police arrested the accused but later released them.

In his letter, he alleged that the police were protecting the accused as they are relatives of some influential persons included a retired military officer and a serving official of a sensitive agency.

He said he had appealed to the assistant superintendent of police (ASP), Cantonment, Abbottabad, that the accused had been threatening his family of dire consequences and pressuring them to withdraw the murder case.

Mr Younus alleged that his son was shot dead by his brother, Khalilur Rehman, and his nephew, Jamilur Rehman, in front of his house on March 3.

The accused, Khalilur Rehman, wanted to get his daughter married to the elder brother of the deceased. When his wish could not materialised, he killed Usman.

Mohammad Younus said two armed persons entered his house on May 12 to kill his family members. However, one of them was overpowered and handed over to the police.
