KARACHI: Baloch activists hold demo

By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, May 28: Baloch activists representing different parties and NGOs staged a rally here on Sunday against the outgoing military operation and the alleged human rights violation in Balochistan.

The rally was organized by the Karachi-based Baloch Yekjehti Committee to express solidarity with the Baloch struggle.

Carrying banners and placards, the protestors assembled at the Karachi Press Club and raised slogans against the Musharraf Government and urged the international rights bodies to help stop “state repression in Balochistan.

They also urged the government to grant right of self-rule to Baloch people if it wanted to resolve the Balochistan crisis.

Condemning the brutal actions in Balochistan, they claimed a large number of innocent people had been kidnapped by secret agencies and their whereabouts could not be known till today.

A spokesman for the committee said the government was arresting Baloch activists and throwing them into detention camps established in unknown places.
