QUETTA, May 27: Differences have emerged between the provincial chief of the JUI-F’s Maulana Mohammad Khan Sherani and a party MNA Maulana Noor Mohammad over supporting Talibans.
Maulana Sherani had recently asked party members not to allow the Taliban to enter their ranks while Maulana Noor claimed that the party’s central policy-making organ had supported jihad in Afghanistan against occupational forces.
Maulana Sherani did not elaborate when he was asked during the press conference on Friday about his statement on the issue according to which no one was eligible to wage jihad at the behest of intelligence agencies.
He had also said that jihad could only be proclaimed by a competent religious authority and maintained that JUI-F being a major religious organisation could take such a decision, adding that under Islamic injunctions, it was necessary to fulfil certain conditions before announcing jihad.
Meanwhile, Maulana Noor Mohammad in a press conference held at the press club here on Saturday said that Maulana Sherani’s perception on the Taliban issue reflected his personal concepts, adding that they had nothing to do with the party’s policy.
