School Cricket Round-Up: Brilliant all-round display by Niaz

KARACHI, May 27: A brilliant all-round performance by Mohammad Niaz inspired New Iqra School to thumping 266-run victory over Iqra Public School in the PCB National Inter-school (Karachi region) cricket tournament on Friday.

Niaz bludgeoned a magnificent 175, which included 16 fours and 10 sixes, as New Iqra amassed 347 for nine in 45 overs in their match at the KCCA Stadium.

Niaz then claimed four for 27 with his off-spinners as Iqra Public were bundled out for 71 in 21.2 overs.

Mohammad Zaman also put a good all-round show to help Pak National Grammar defeat Baba Fareed by four wickets at the Asifabad Sports Ground.

Zaman took five for 28 with his off-spin before hitting 55.

In other matches, Pak Folks outclassed H.B. Malik School by 121 runs at the TMC

Ground; Nasra School Evening overcame Nasra School Morning by 33 runs at the Pak Star Ground while GBSS Shams overwhelmed Oxford Education School by 110 runs at the Asghar Ali Shah Stadium.

PAK NATIONAL GRAMMAR 122-6 in 30.4 overs (Mohammad Zaman 55; A. Ameer Khan 3-31, Hayat Khan 2-21).

Our Sports Correspondent adds from Lahore: Fine bowling by spinners Mohammad Wasim and Mohammad Yasin helped Government Model High School, Model Town beat DPS Model Town by three wickets in the Lahore Region match.

Off-spinner Wasim snapped up four for 39 while leg-spinner Yasin finished with three for 27 as DPS were all out for 135 in 27.5 overs.

The winners achieved the target scoring 136 for seven in 32.2 overs.

Lexicon SS (Lahore Cantt) defeated City Grammer School (Allama Iqbal Town) by eight wickets.

Set to score 57, City Grammar achieved in 12 overs.

Four wickets by Salatan Khan for 28 runs and a fine half-century by Raheel Abbas enabled Sadiq Trust School outclass Milli Foundation by nine wickets.
