OKARA, May 27: More than 200 people took out a rally here to protest against the alleged sale of dead animal’s meat at Salowal town, demanding action against area SHO for favouring the accused.

The protesters, most of them residents of Salowal town situated on Deepalpur-Kasur road, who had first gathered outside the DCO office and then at the press club, alleged that some butchers in the area had been involved in the sale of dead animals’ mutton and beef.

They further alleged that despite lodging repeated complaints, the town administration’s officials concerned took no steps to check the menace and instead Deepalpur Saddar SHO booked dozens of people under terrorism charges, who were protesting against the sale on Friday.

They chanted slogans against MNA and parliamentary secretary Rao Muhammad Ajmal Khan for patronising the butchers.

They also alleged that SHO Javed Khan released the accused after receiving bribe from them and implicated the complainants in a fake case.
