LAHORE, May 27: Parliamentary Affairs State Minister Kamil Ali Agha has said the assemblies are fully authorised to re-elect the president under the law like those to be elected in future.

He was talking to journalists after inaugurating the First Flour Milling Conference here on Saturday.

He said the law provided

a clear procedure for the election of the president. Both the existing as well as the new assemblies could elect him under the prescribed procedure, he added.

Mr Agha said the relations between the government and the opposition had improved considerably. The government continued holding meetings with the opposition in connection with the parliamentary affairs.

He said positive criticism was the right of the opposition and it helped the government improve its performance.
