Budget proposals sought by 30th

ISLAMABAD, May 27: The chairman of the National Assembly Standing Committee on Finance and Revenue, Chaudhry Anwer Ali Cheema, on Saturday asked members of the committee to submit their proposals by May 30 for inclusion in the next budget.

Earlier, opposition members of the committee had criticised the chairman for convening the meeting “very late”, saying they would not get enough time to finalise the budget proposals.

They feared that their proposals might not be incorporated in the budget.

Minister of State for Finance Omar Ayub Khan informed the committee that the federal budget was an estimation of receipts and expenditure of the government for the ensuing financial year and was passed by the parliament after thorough discussion.

He assured the committee that every positive suggestion from the committee would be welcomed and would be incorporated in the next budget.
