KARACHI, May 27: Four ships carrying containers, rice and chemicals were allotted berths at QICT and MPT during the last 24 hours, said a PQA press release on Saturday.

In the meantime, four more vessels, Sima Paras, Indonatia Star, Great Mary and Paula, carrying containers, sugar and general cargo also arrived at the outer anchorage. Berth occupancy sttod at 89 per cent as eight ships were currently busy in loading and offloading containers, rice, chemicals, high speed diesel, furnace oil and iron ore.

A cargo volume of 78,600 tons comprising 65,562 tons of import and 13,038 tons of export tonnage was handled.

Sailing was active as Vema Ocean, Tu King and Velli De Mars left the port while Yanaseni, Natalia and Sima Paras were due to depart.
