KARACHI: Blasphemy suspect held

KARACHI, May 26: A Christian man has been arrested for sending blasphemous messages through his mobile phone to Muslims.

Qamar David, a hospital canteen worker, was arrested on Thursday following a complaint by a travel agent, who had received offending messages.

“He was sending blasphemous messages and causing panic,” CCPO Niaz Ahmed Siddiqui told Reuters. “He says he did this as he was upset with attacks on churches,” the police officer said.

Imran Minhas, a police officer, said that the man has confessed to have sent insulting messages about Islam and the Holy Prophet.—Reuters
