PC-1 for new Islamabad club okayed

ISLAMABAD, May 25: Capital Development Authority Chairman Kamran Lashari has said the PC-1 of new Islamabad club has been approved, and the construction work will be started within two months.

Speaking at the inauguration of the 5th annual exhibition of miniature paintings at Nomad art gallery here on Thursday, Mr Lashari said the authority had also approved a PC-1 for establishing a number of sports complexes in the federal capital.

For the last one year, the authority has been working on a Rs300 million project to turn Saidpur into a tourist village, and the work in this regard will be completed within 10 days, he said.

The CDA chairman stressed the revival of theatre in Islamabad, saying there were plans to establish a crafts village besides encouraging other entertainment-related events.

“I would appreciate Nomad centre’s commitment towards the promotion of culture and art, crafts development, human rights and peace initiatives,” he added.

Later, he visited the gallery and lauded the efforts of the artists who have highlighted contemporary issues while employing traditional techniques of miniature paintings.

The nine young artists who took part in the exhibition are Zarina Ijaz, Samreen Asghar, Najam Kazmi, Waseem Ahmed, Sobia Ahmed, Kiran Saeed and Amna Hashmi.

The colours used in the miniature paintings were derived from natural sources such as stones, leaves, vegetables, herbs etc.

Nomad Director Nageen Hayat expressed her gratitude to all guests, including diplomats and CDA officials, for their support towards promotion of art and crafts.— Lamia Zia
