SUKKUR, May 25: As a boycott of examinations of HSC part-I and II by the Sindh Professors and Lecturers Association continued, talks between the SPLA and management of the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education Sukkur failed on Thursday.

The SPLA said it would continue protests till the removal of the board’s chairman, Mehboob Shaikh.

The SPLA boycotted the examinations following maltreatment of a lecturer of Khairpur by the chairman and his gunman.

The board has not yet announced the date of examinations which have been postponed for an indefinite period.

The board chairman said that the schedule of the examination would be announced soon.

Dr Mehboob Shaikh said he hoped that the SPLA would end its protest and teachers would resume work.

He said that if they did not end the protest the board would make alternative arrangements.

SPLA Sukkur region leader Prof Shafqat Jokhio said that the teachers would continue the boycott till the removal of the chairman.

He said that if the board management made any alternative arrangement for the examination, the SPLA would widen the scope of its protest across the province.

Meanwhile, office-bearers of the clerks union of the education board, Ghulam Mohammad Abro and Rizwan Memon, said that the All-Pakistan Clerks Association was least concerned with the protest of the SPLA.

They said that that owing to misunderstanding the SPLA had boycotted examinations, putting future of thousands of students at stake.

The controller of examination of the BISE Sukkur announced that the practical examination of HSC part-I and II for physics, chemistry, biology, library science, geography, outlines of home economics and others subjects of home economics groups would be held from June 6 at various examination centres under the jurisdiction of the board.
