Minorities condemn De Vinci Code

ISLAMABAD, May 24: All Pakistan Minorities Alliance (APMA) has appealed to the people of all faiths to reject the Hollywood movie ‘De Vinci Code.’

According to a press release, religious minorities of Pakistan strongly condemns the ‘blasphemous and satanic’ movie and demands of the government to announce immediate ban on the film.

“The De Vinci Code by Dane Brown attacks our belief in the divinity of Christ, the truthfulness of sacred scriptures, the integrity of the holy catholic church and core values of Christianity and Christians,” Shahbaz Bhatti, chairman APMA said.

He said the movie was full of offences, historical and theological errors regarding Jesus, Gospel and Church. It was based on false, baseless, unrealistic and shameful information.

Pakistani Christians were expressing their unequivocal rejection and disgust of the blasphemous film, he said adding that the blasphemous movie has hurt religious sentiments of Christians through all over the world.

“We will not allow anyone to disgrace and insult our

Jesus Lord and belief in the guise of freedom of expression,” he said.

He asked the secretary general of United Nations to condemn the act of blasphemy and introduce a charter to stop such elements, playing with the religious sentiments of the people in the cover of freedom of speech, insulting sacred and religious beliefs of people.

Mr Bhatti said Western countries should also ban the circulation of movie and take strong action against the producer.

He emphasized that the government should officially condemn the blasphemous film and restrict and prohibit cable operators, TV channels and Internet sites from showing it.
