KARACHI, May 24: City Nazim Syed Mustafa Kamal and Shanghai Mayor Han Zheng have resolved to establish special offices in Karachi and Shanghai to boost ties in various sectors between the twin cities.

The decision was made during the city nazim’s visit to Shanghai, the biggest and busiest port city of China, said a CDGK press release issued on Wednesday.

Mustafa Kamal during his meeting with Mr Zheng said an agreement had been signed in 1984 to declare Karachi and Shanghai twin cities, but no practical step had been taken.

He said that on wish of Han Zheng, 'Twin City Secretariat' would be established in both the cities.

The nazim said the Shanghai mayor would co-operate in Karachi’s uplift, particularly in preparation of master plan, establishment of mass transit

corridors, infrastructure development, solid waste management and construction of flyovers. A delegation of experts from Shanghai will soon visit Karachi for the purpose, he added.—PPI
