Heatstroke claims two lives

DADU, May 23: Two people died and 18 others fell unconscious as a searing heat gripped the district and the mercury rose to 49 degree centigrade on Tuesday. Bazars and main roads of the city wore a deserted look. A retired teacher, Umer Mallah, 72, fell unconscious outside the press club and died.

Another man, Saleem Brohi, 62, died in Gozo village.

Six people fell unconscious in Johi taluka and were admitted to the taluka hospital.

Twelve people were admitted to the Dadu civil hospital due to sunstroke, five of them were children under age seven years.
