MINGORA, May 23: Seven members of a family were killed and three others were injured when a truck going to Gujjar Gabral village from Mardan fell into the River Swat near Kalam due to brake failure. Four of the passengers who died were women.

Those killed were identified as Ibrahim, Abdul Wahab, Sakeena, Kausar Bibi, Bakht Zaroon, Maimoona and Javeria. Those injured were identified as Abdul Mannan, Motabar and Niaz.

Five other people were killed in three other incidents. A Mankial-bound pick-up plunged into the river in Cham Garhi near Behrain, killing three people.

The victims included driver Rahim, Haris and Hashim. Two bodies have been recovered.

In the third incident, a man from Lahore, Fazal Mehmood, fell unconscious after taking adulterated syrup in the Charbagh area.

He was taken to a hospital where he died. Police have registered a case.

In Kokari village, an elderly doctor was kicked by a donkey in abdomen. He died on the spot.
