QUETTA, May 23: The People’s Party Parliamentarians has asked the government to stop the military operation in Balochistan and resolve the issue politically, stating that extra-constitutional methods would create disharmony between the federation and Baloch masses.
Speaking at a press conference on Tuesday, PPP provincial president Nawabzada Lashkari Khan Raisani and the party’s chief election commissioner Syed Sajid Bukhari criticised the government’s extra-constitutional actions in Balochistan and said military action would make resolution of political issues through peaceful means difficult.
They said PPP chairperson Benazir Bhutto would return to the country before the election.
They said military rulers’ policies did not reflect people’s aspirations.
They asserted that if transparent and impartial polls were held the PPP would emerge as the largest parliamentary group.
They said 10,000 people had registered for party membership in Balochistan during the drive launched for the purpose.
