KARACHI, May 23: Hundreds of subscribers of Mobilink GSM company were disconnected from rest of the telecommunication network after a fault in the software system developed on Tuesday.
The signals in mobile phones suddenly disappeared and a message "No network available" appeared on cellphones’ screens of subscribers in the afternoon. Some of the subscribers complained that their mobile phones did not work throughout the day.
A number of subscribers said that the signals of their mobile phones disappeared in the afternoon and they could not be able to receive or make a call. The signals were restored in the evening, they added.
However, the spokesman for Mobilink GSM company Omar Manzoor said that a fault developed in the mobile switching centre in Karachi. Due to the fault, a specific area was affected and all subscribers, who were present in that area were faced with problem in receiving and making calls.
He said that the software engineers located the fault and solved the problems within two hours. He reiterated that the disturbance in mobile phone signals occurred in a limited area and it did not spread across the city.
