GUJRANWALA, May 22: The district administration on Monday declared the Jan 26 supplementary budget session of Naushera Virkan town as illegal for sending invitation to opposition members after the meeting and asked the local government secretary to take necessary action against the officials concerned.

Reports said as many as 14 opposition members of Naushera Virkan town had submitted a memorandum to the district coordination officer and informed him that the treasury benches approved supplementary budget for fiscal year 2005-06 on Jan 26.

In the memorandum, they said the opposition members were sent invitation letters after the budget meeting.

A local government assistant-director and the deputy director (revenue) conducted an inquiry after which the Jan 26 meeting was declared illegal.
