KARACHI: Minister’s guards beat up Major

By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, May 22: Police late Sunday night registered an FIR on the complaint of an army officer who reported that he was beaten up by the police guards escorting a provincial minister in Gulshan Town a few days back.

Though police did not mention the name of the provincial minister in the FIR (255/2006), it was registered against four unknown policemen who, according to the FIR, could be identified by the complainant, an army major. According to reports, Major Syed Aamir Rehman was driving through the Gulshan roundabout with his family when he was rudely told by the policemen escorting the minister’s convoy to get aside.

When he continued to drive at his normal course, the policemen blocked his vehicle, pulled him down and beat him up.

Feeling the heat, Gulshan Town TPO Asif Ejaz went on a two-day leave.
