KARACHI, May 22: The town administration of Gulshan-i-Iqbal on Monday announced that it would chop down eucalyptus trees along Haider Ali Road in UC-1 within next 15 days and plant date palms in their place.

According to DTO Parks, the eucalyptus trees along the road have become old and have been bent down on roads that may cause any accident. He further said their roots were also choking underground water supply lines.

He said philanthropists had been contacted for planting date palms soon after cutting down eucalyptus trees.

The town administration asked people to contact TMO Matanat Ali Khan on telephone number 9231374, within 15 days if they wanted to put objection or recommendation, if any.

Meanwhile, on the directive of Gulshan-i-Iqbal Town Nazim Wasay Jalil, a thumbing machine has been installed at the town office to record attendance of the staff.

The town staff’s payroll will be prepared on the basis of machine's recording. To improve the attendance system, concerned departments of the city government have been asked to pay salaries to their employees after receiving certificate from this machine.

The town officials have been directed to mark their attendance in the register placed at TMO Secretariat that will be checked by TMO Matanat Ali Khan. In this connection, he visited all the town departments and checked attendance of the officers and staff.

Separately, Nadra bill machine installed at the town office has started receiving utility bills.

According to the town announcement, the bill machine is receiving electricity, gas and telephone bills during office hours. Besides, bill payment, other facilities offered by the machine will be activated for 24 hours. –PPI
