30-member team leaves for Mumbai today

KARACHI, May 22: A 30-member delegation of Karachi business leaders, politicians, educationists, media persons and showbiz personalities, led by retired justice Fakhruddin G. Ibrahim, leaves for Mumbai on Tuesday on a four-day visit to explore synergies and areas of mutual cooperation.
Sponsored by the South Asia Free Media Association (Safma), the delegation during the stay in Mumbai will meet the captains of trade and industry, healthcare experts, educationists, media practitioners, leaders of the Mumbai city government and showbiz personalities.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh has organised a dinner for the visiting Pakistani delegation on Tuesday. The delegation will also attend a programme to pay tribute to late Naushad.
The delegation includes Safma secretary-general Imtiaz Alam, former federal information minister Nisar Memon, former PPP Senator Taj Hyder, Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry President Haroon Faruqi, Pakistan Importers and Grocers Association leader Raees Ashraf Tarmohammad, industry leaders Amin Hashwani, Zahid Adamjee and Rafiq Dawood, showbiz personalities Tina Sani and Sajid Hussain, educationist Mohammad Ali Sheikh and others.
Safma has organised a Karachi-Mumbai exchange programme to revive historical ties between these two once twin port cities of South Asia. An Indian delegation will pay a return visit on June 10 to Karachi and will meet businessmen, politicians and others.
