RIYADH, May 21: The head of the chancery at the Pakistan Embassy in Riyadh, Mr M. Raza Otto, died at a hospital here on Saturday night of complications from heart surgery. Mr Otto was in his mid-50s.

He had been admitted to the hospital last week and underwent surgery. However, due to complications, he was put on a ventilator.

A career diplomat, Mr Otto has been associated with the Pakistan Embassy in Riyadh for more than three years.

His tenure in Riyadh was almost over and he was expecting to report to headquarters in Pakistan soon.

His body would be flown to Karachi on a flight scheduled to leave on Monday night. Mr Otto hailed from Hyderabad, where he would be laid to rest on Tuesday.

He is survived by his wife and two daughters.
