20 clubs demand restoration of DCA, officials

Bureau Report

HYDERABAD, May 19: Office-bearers of 20 cricket clubs, registered with District Cricket Association (DCA) Hyderabad on Friday urged the PCB ad hoc chairman Shaharyar M. Khan to restore DCA by withdrawing his earlier letter imposing ad hoc committee over DCA so that elected officials could run it.

A copy of 3-page appeal has been released to press by the club officials.

They also appealed to the chairman to hold an inquiry into complaints and letters sent to PCB so that facts could come to fore.

They said that suspended DCA secretary, in a bid to sabotage inter-club cricket tournament, organised under directives of PCB, had sided with those elements who lost elections.

"Suspended DCA secretary Faisal Hameed had boycotted your reception and alongwith defeated group of DCA misbehaved with you," club officials reminded PCB chairman.

They said that secretary was on record having demanded imposition of ad hoc body over DCA and wrote letters to PCB and regional development officer (RDO) time and again which itself reflected that such an individual does not deserve to be secretary of an elected body.

They requested the chairman that DCA secretary should be removed while president and treasurer should be reinstated immediately.

They described suspension of DCA officials as undemocratic, saying the situation demanded an inquiry into allegations, levelled by defeated elements in letters which were addressed to PCB chief otherwise the suspension of DCA officials would not meet the ends of justice.

"You have taken this decision in haste and without conducting inquiries on fake applications and it will take the cricket of Hyderabad towards destruction," they said.

They added it would become a precedent and those losing elections would follow the same path and write fake applications to PCB.

Therefore, they said, the undemocratic and unconstitutional decision of PCB chairman was quite disappointing.

They said that after occupying DCA for 25 years and losing elections the former officials of associations had started writing complaints to PCB on different pretexts in order to make the board feel that cricket was being destroyed in Hyderabad due to internecine fight between DCA representatives.

"Your initiative, based on fake letters and few press clippings and without holding inquiry, is beyond comprehension and it negates your own announcements," the appeal read.

They said that they would send a detailed report regarding performance of RDO Hyderabad to show whether he had worked with positive frame of mind or acted negatively in the region.
