‘Gamblers’ held with stake money

SHEIKHUPURA, May 19: The Farooqabad police claimed on Friday to have arrested 20 gamblers and recovered Rs30,000 stake money, two cars, five cell phones and other valuables.

Receiving information about gambling, District Police Officer Muhammad Aslam Tareen constituted a special raiding team, led by SDPO/DSP operation (Saddar circle) Yar Muhammad Dogar and DSP (investigation) Chaudhry Muhammad Tariq Warriach.

The team raided an outhouse owned by Hifazat Ali Dogar and arrested 20 gamblers with stake money and other valuables. Among the arrested were Hifazat Ali and Ashiq Ali. A case has been registered against the suspects.

District Police Officer Muhammad Aslam Tareen announced cash prizes and commendation certificates for the raiding party members.

ROBBERIES: Robbers took away cash, gold ornaments and other valuables worth hundreds of thousands of rupees early on Friday.

In the first strike, three armed men stormed into Syed Azhar Husain’s house at Nashiman Park, held up the family and took away cash, ornaments and valuables.

Five armed men went to Khaliq filling station on the pretext of getting fuel. They snatched Rs20,000 in cash from a salesman and disappeared.
