SANGHAR, May 19: An adult literacy programme has been launched in the district jail in collaboration with a non-governmental organisation, Full Gospel Assembly.

The NGO will impart education to juvenile prisoners up to class-V.

Obed Frez of the FGA said that the plan was recognised by the Sindh education department and after completion of courses a certificate of class-V would be issued after passing the examination which would be conducted by the education department.

Jail Superintendent Younus Maseeh said that there were 353 under-trail prisoners, six convicted and 16 juvenile prisoners, in the jail. The adult prisoners will be taught Hifz, Nazira and ethics to help them to become respectable citizens after completion of jail terms.

District Nazim Haji Khuda Bux Rajar inaugurated the programme at juvenile barrack.
