HYDERABAD, May 19: Members of a family belonging to Thatta has accused the Jherruk police of committing excesses and implicating them in a false case and sought justice from the higher authorities.

At a press conference here on Friday, along with Pasban leaders, Altaf Shakoor, Lal Hussain and others, the family members Sharif, Rukhsana, Maryam and Sakina, said that a bogus case was lodged against them on the complaint of Noor Mohammad, the uncle of a police constable of the police post Oonger, Gulab Khaskheli.

Altaf Shakoor and Lal Hussain disclosed that the controversy began on May 5 when Pir Bux cut branches of a few trees over the roof of a mosque, located on his land bearing survey No-355 in order, to repair the roof.

They said that Gulab arrived there and asked him to pay him half of the proceeds of wood to which Pir Bux refused saying that land belonged to him and he would utilise the money for mosque’s maintenance.

They said that when Pir Bux went to the bazaar he was mercilessly beaten by Gulab and taken to the Oonger police post where he was again subjected to torture and said that when the matter was reported to the Pasban office-bearers, they approached the SHO who refused to release Pir Bux and instead demanded money.

They stated that people of the area staged protest demonstration and subsequently the detenu was released following payment of Rs8,000 and police also obtained documents of the land.

They added that a representation had been sent to Sindh governor and chief minister, RPO of Hyderabad and DPO of Thatta but nothing transpired.

On the contrary, they said, police lodged a false case vide crime no 15/06 under sections 382, 109, 34 PPC on complaint of Noor Mohammad against six persons of the family including Nabi Bux, Sharif, Pir Bux, Khuda Dino and two others.

They said that eight days had lapsed but no remand of detenues, Pir Bux, his son, Majeed and Khuda Dino, his nephew had been obtained. They added that the motorcycle of Nabi Son, younger son of Pir Bux, had also been snatched by police.

They said that police officials were not investigating the case properly and the family was being pressurized by influential people of Thatta to strike a deal with complainant by giving some money. They said that entire police machinery was helpless before SHO Jherruk and the policeman Gulab Khaskheli.
