MIRPURKHAS, May 18: Police on Wednesday arrested four men booked in two cases under the orders of Supreme Court which took suo motu notice of the electrocution of three children a couple of weeks ago.

The SHO of Kot Ghulam Muhammad police station, Ayub Dars, said the cases were lodged after Supreme Court had taken notice of a report about the death by electrocution of three children at Jara Water near Kot Mirs published in a monthly English magazine.

Police lodged two FIRs on Monday night under sections 109, 319, 322 and 34 against an LBOD tubewell’s watchman, Urs Bhatti; a landlord, Yasir Arain; a lineman of LBOD/SIDA, Nasir; Misri, Mohan, Karo, Ladho, Dano, Vishno, Bhao and Ramshi.

The SHO told Dawn that four of the accused had been arrested and police were conducting raids to get others.

On March 5, six-year-old Hemraj, son of Shankar Kolhi, was electrocuted by an illegal power connection to an SCARP tubewell.

The following day, eight-year-old Harchand and his younger brother Roopchand, sons of Kachro, were electrocuted by another illegal power connection to another SCARP tubewell.
