KARACHI, May 17: The Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication has framed the ‘Cyber Crimes Act’ which will be submitted with the cabinet soon.

This was stated by Federal Minister for IT&T Awais Ahmed Khan Leghari while speaking as chief guest at a seminar on promoting global cyber-security, held at a local hotel.

The seminar was organised by the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority in connection with the World Telecom Day.

The minister said that Pakistan would get the third submarine cable by the end of next month and this would strengthen the country’s Internet network and make it more credible.

Expressing his dissatisfaction over the current speed of Internet, he asked the regulators to keep a vigil on the ISPs.

The minister also announced the introduction of e-procurement system in the federal government departments by June 2007.—APP
