ISLAMABAD, May 17: A nephew of the Pakistan People’s Party Azad Kashmir and the son of a former AJK minister and leader of the Muslim Conference announced their decisions to join the newly-formed Jammu Kashmir People’s Muslim League (JKPML) here on Wednesday.
Sahibzada Imran Pazir, and Hasan Raza, son of Muslim Conference leader Mumtaz Ali Gilani, announced their decisions at a press conference with the convenor of the JKPML Barrister Sultan Mahmood Chaudhry.
A number of other members of the Gilani family, which is known for its vibrant role in AJK politics, also announced to leave the Muslim Conference, criticising the leadership of the party. They included Sajjad Gilani, Asif Gilani and Barrister Iftikhar Gilani.
Sultan Mahmood said the JKPML had been formed to eliminate the two-party system in Azad Kashmir and rid the people of exploitation.
He said people from different parties were joining the JKPML which had brought about a revolution in the AJK politics. “This is a clear indication that the JKPML would be in a clear position to form a government in Azad Kashmir after the forthcoming polls without forging any alliance,” he claimed.
Sajjad Gilani said a large number of people would join the JKPML at a workers’ convention to be organised in Muzaffarabad soon.
