ISLAMABAD May 17: The government of Saudi Arabia, keeping the popular sentiments of Muslim Ummah, has taken strong stand both on Iran’s nuclear issue and the blasphemous cartoons published by some European newspapers by taking the lead in withdrawal of its ambassador from Denmark.

This was stated by the Senate foreign affairs committee chairman and PML secretary general Mushahid Hussain Syed while welcoming a seven-member Saudi parliamentary delegation led by Shoora council chairman Dr Saleh bin Abdullah bin Homaed at a lunch he hosted in honour of the delegation at the Senate banquet hall on Wednesday.

Mr Hussain said Saudi Arabia was in the forefront of efforts of making the Muslim world a land of peace and its principled stand on Palestine and Kashmir was well known and a source of strength for the Ummah.

He said Saudi opposition to use of force against Iran and its stand that Iran had the full right to have peaceful nuclear facility had also strengthened the unity among the Muslim world as it had taken lead in giving a strong reaction to the blasphemous cartoons published by a Denmark newspaper followed by other European papers.

Our reporter adds: Saudi Shura chairman Dr Saleh Bin Abdullah Bin Homaed, on Wednesday stressed the need of boosting trade and investment activities between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia

He also said that frequent exchange of delegations comprising experts in different fields could pave the way for achieving the desired results.

He was talking to the Senate Chairman Mohammadmian Soomro in the Parliament house.

Dr Saleh said that despite changes in the geopolitical situation, both the countries had common stance on various issues.
