KARACHI, May 17: The Managing Director of Karachi Water and Sewerage Board, Brig Iftikhar Haider, on Wednesday directed the officials concerned that the work on 48-inch-dia valve and shifting of water lines passing through Liaquatabad Underpass should be completed within 36 hours as per instruction of the nazim.

He said that it was essential to ensure timely restart of water supply to affected localities of Liaquatabad, Sharifabad, F.C. Area, Nazimabad, Baldia, Shershah, Golimar, Old Golimar, Grease Lab, Rexer Village, PAF Masroor, Mauripur and Kanupp.

He issued the directive to Chief Engineer Zone-II Najam Alam and other officials during a visit to review the change of valve and shifting of main water line at Liaquatabad Underpass.

The chief engineer informed the managing director that work on change of valve and shifting of line was going on round-the-clock and all possible efforts were being made for its completion on time.

Brig Iftikhar said that no delay or slackness in the work would be tolerated and efforts should be made to ensure that affected areas could be supplied water ahead of 36 hours deadline.

He said that he was taking practical steps and completion of K-III project three months ahead of target completion period was a testimony to it and spoke of his true commitment and dedication.

He said that credit also went to each and every person who worked on K-III project and completed the task as per desire of the nazim.

He said with the completion of this project, the nazim fulfilled his promise to citizens.
