MULTAN, May 16: A fire that engulfed a forest surrounding Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission installations near Dera Ghazi Khan town late on Monday night was put out at 7am on Tuesday by fire brigade vehicles from several nearby cities.

The site which is 4km from the populated area falls in the DG Khan municipal limits. Guarded by the army, it’s a restricted area. The fire which reportedly erupted at 10.30pm burnt thousands of trees. A district government official who supervised the rescue operation said the PAEC installations were safe.
