RAWALPINDI, May 16: After a long dry spell the twin cities on Tuesday received rain, which continued intermittently till late in the evening bringing some relief for the heat-exhausted people of the twin-cities.

The rain was preceded by heavy dust storm which began at 5:25 pm and continued for more than an hour. The rain turned the weather pleasant and the people were observed enjoying it.

A week ago Met Office had warned of a possible drought with no rains expected in the next two months. But on Monday the office predicted rain for Tuesday with isolated dust storm.

LIGHTNING: Lightning set a room on fire and struck a tree down during Tuesday thunderstorm.

However, no loss of life or any serious injuries were reported.

The first incident took place at the residential colony of National Institute of Health, where lightning struck a house.

As a result a fire broke out in a room, reducing the valuables there to ashes, although the residents of the house tried to extinguish the fire.—A Reporter
