PESHAWAR, May 16: The lawyers’ wings of the Pakistan People’s Party and the Pakistan Muslim League (N) have hailed the signing of the charter of democracy and termed it an important step for restoration of genuine democracy in the country.

A joint meeting of the People’s Lawyers Forum and Muslim Lawyers Forum was held here at the Peshawar High Court which was addressed by former PA speaker Barrister Masood Kausar, Bashir Khan Tanghi and Sabitullah Khalil of PLF and Alamzeb Khan, Mussarat Ullah and Nek Nawaz of MLF.

They said the charter was a golden chapter in the political history of the country and if political parties had followed such charters in the past, army would never have toppled elected governments.
