KARACHI: Renovation of college


KARACHI, May 16: The Sindh Planning and Development Minister, Shoaib Bukhari, on Tuesday said the present government was making efforts to establish modern technical and scientific educational institutions so the next generation get education according to contemporary and future needs.

He said while laying the foundation stone of the renovation project of the Government Degree Science College Qasimabad, Liaquatabad. MQM MPA Idris Siddiqui was also present.

The project includes repair and renovation of the college's classrooms, laboratories, library and administration block, and installation of grills, doors and windows. At an estimated cost of Rs8.7 million, it will be completed by May 2007.

Mr Bukhari told the ceremony that the college, established in 1952, had never been repaired or renovated and over 800 students studying there had no modern facilities. He said it was a science college and must be set on modern lines.

He directed the city government officials to complete the project within stipulated time and ensure quality.—PPI
