KARACHI, May 15: Former world snooker champion, Mohammad Yousuf, would assume a new role when he takes over a coaching assignment in UAE by the end of next month. ‘He has given his consent to train the UAE’s second string after he was offered a one-year contract for US $ 1200 per month’, president, Pakistan Billiards and Snooker Association (PBSA), Asghar Valika, told Dawn on Monday.

The contract was materialised when Valika met Sultan Joker, secretary, UAE Snooker Association during the recently concluded international tournament at Dubai.

Earlier, former world No 2, Saleh Mohammad has served as coach of Bahrain and Iran national teams.

Bahrain’s unfancied Habib who had learnt finer points of the game from Saleh created a stir when he fought his way into the semifinal of the 2005 world championship held at the Netherlands.

However, Saleh’s association with Iran could not last long as he failed to adjust to the conditions offered to him.
