London sugar

LONDON, May 15: London white sugar futures fell on speculative selling on Monday in sympathy with a selloff in oil and metals markets, and traders said New York raws could fall further.

Benchmark August was down $5.40 or 1.09 per cent to $491.60 per ton in volume of 897 lots, after moving from $495.10 to $491.60. Oct was down $3.50 or 0.72pc to $481.50 in volume of 301 lots, having moved from $485.00 to $481.50. We are seeing falls in sugar following drops in copper, gold and the stock market, one trader said, predicting that the more liquid raws market would also fall at the opening.—Reuters
