Sarwan misses hundred as Zimbabwe chase 267
PORT-OF-SPAIN, May 14: Ramnaresh Sarwan fell nine short of a hundred as West Indies set Zimbabwe a competitive target of 267 for victory in the seventh and final One-day International at the Queen's Park Oval on Sunday.
Sarwan hit half-dozen boundaries from 114 balls and anchored West Indies to 266 for eight from their allocation of 50 overs after they chose to bat in ideal conditions.
The elegant right-hander added a vital 71 for the second wicket with compatriot Shivnarine Chanderpaul and put on 67 for the third wicket with West Indies captain Brian Lara.
Chanderpaul struck four fours and one six in 45 from 69 balls and Lara counted two fours and three sixes in 40 off 38 balls.
Tawanda Mupariwa was the most successful Zimbabwe bowler with three wickets for 44 runs from his allotment of 10 overs.
Mupariwa's new-ball partner Blessing Mahwire collected two for 49 from his 10 and leg-spinner Ryan Higgins snared two for 52 from his 10.
West Indies, who lead the series 4-0, after back-to-back victories by five wickets and 98 runs at St John's, an 82-run win last Sunday at Georgetown, and a 10-wicket triumph last Wednesday have continued their rotation policy and made three changes to their side.
Dwayne Bravo, Jerome Taylor, and Fidel Edwards have replaced Runako Morton, Dave Mohammed and Corey Collymore in the starting 11.
Zimbabwe have made one change, bringing in Blessing Mahwire for Anthony Ireland.
Saturday's sixth ODI at this venue was washed out and the third ODI on the previous Saturday at Georgetown was also rained out without a ball being bowled.
