ISLAMABAD, May 14: There seemed to be no end to Pakistan's miseries at the Junior Fed Cup as the team lost its fifth match in succession, hammered 0-3 by the Philippines.

In the tournament in Bangkok, Trudy Gine Amoran defeated Quratul Ain 6-2, 6-1 while Jessica Marie Agra thrashed Pakistan’s top-ranked player, Sarah Mahboob 6-3, 6-2 to make it 2-0 for her side.

In the subsequent doubles, Trudy Gine and Macy Solon blanked Quratul Ain and Sarah 6-0, 6-0.

The defeat left Pakistan fighting with Sri Lanka to avoid finishing last in the 16-team competition.

The Sri Lankans, who had beaten Pakistan in the pool match earlier, clearly have an edge against a side which has won only one set out of 28 in the five matches they have played.

Pakistan had earlier faced defeats at the hands of Japan, South Korea, Sri Lanka and Taiwan.
