BAHAWALNAGAR, May 13: Five new departments will begin working at Islamia University Bahawalpur’s (IUB) Bahawalnagar campus from the new academic session in September this year while bus service will be launched within a week.
This was said by Bahawalnagar campus director Ishtiaq Ahmad here on Saturday while talking to the press.
He said as many as 650 students would be admitted to new disciplines — MA Education, M.Ed, B.Ed, M.Com and B.A (Hons). He said the departments of MCS Computer Science and Management Sciences had successfully completed their first semester. Mr Ahmad said 20 new teachers would be recruited here and the total strength would reach 35 after new appointments.
Speaking of accommodation problem for students, he said Punjab Governor/IUB Chancellor Khalid Maqbool during his recent visit had assured that the hostel facility would be provided soon. In this regard, the governor had issued a directive to the Bahawalnagar DCO that the hostel of Government Comprehensive School, should be handed over to the campus, but the EDO (education) was reluctant to vacate the place.
Ishtiaq Ahmad said boundary wall of the campus would be constructed at a cost of Rs40 million.
Later, the journalists took a round of the university campus along with director Ishtiaq Ahmad and Prof Abu Bakr, founder member of the Bahawalnagar campus.
