KARACHI: BIE to change exam dates

By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, May 13: The Board of Intermediate Education, Karachi, has decided to modify the date sheet of Science (Pre-Medical) annual examinations, 2006, said a source in the board.

It is likely that the paper of Botany-I will be shifted from June 2 to some later date, according to the source. It was learnt that students of the pre-medical group had been complaining of the sequences of conduct of three papers, which had been notified to be held on three consecutive days.

“The board requires us to appear in three papers of the Biology group, one after another, on June 1, 2 and 3, which is nothing but overburdening the students,” the students maintained.

According to the date sheets issued for Science group candidates, the papers of Zoology-I and Mathematics–I (for failures) are scheduled for June 1, Computer Science-I and Botany-I for June 2, and Physics-I and Mathematics-I for June 3.

The dates in question were obviously disturbing the students of pre-medical group and, therefore, a review was needed, said a senior college teacher.

When contacted, a BIE official said that some of the college principals had already pointed out the problem, seeking remedy, and in principle some changes had been agreed. However, a formal notification in this regard would be issued on Monday or after, the official added.
