KARACHI, May 12: A former cricketer committed suicide in F B Area on Friday.

Police said Mohammad Asghar, 35, was found hanging from ceiling fan in his house in Jauharabad on Friday morning.

Police said the deceased had joined the police department on sports quota in 1993 and had played first class cricket, Quaid-i-Azam Trophy and had taken part in similar events. But he was later dismissed from the job on pretext of less attendance, police said.

Family told police that since last eight to 10 days, Asghar had turned quite religious.

He used to lock himself in his room. They told the police that on Thursday evening he locked himself in his room as usual.

On Friday morning, the family found him hanging from the ceiling fan. The police sent the body to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for legal formalities.
