NEW DELHI, May 11: India has no immediate plan to withdraw its troops from the Siachen Glacier where they have faced Pakistani soldiers across a poorly demarcated border for 23 years, India’s defence minister said on Thursday.
A November 2003 cease-fire at the glacier has “been largely upheld by both sides,” Defence Minister Pranab Mukherjee told Parliament.
“However, there is no decision at present to pull out troops,” he said in a written reply to questions in the Lok Sabha.—AP
