ISLAMABAD, May 11: Chief Election Commissioner Justice (retd) Qazi Mohammad Farooq has announced that local government polls will be held in the Ghotki district of Sindh on May 14 scheduled.

The announcement came after the Supreme Court reversed a Sindh High Court order under which the election process was suspended. The apex court directed the Election Commission of Pakistan to hold the election on schedule.

The SHC, on May 9, had stayed the schedule for local government elections in 40 Union Councils of Ghotki district.

The CEC has directed the officials concerned to make arrangements for the polls.
